The newer ".docx" extension denotes the Office Open XML international standard for Office documents and is used by Word 2007 for Windows, Word 2008 for the Macintosh. Word allows users to type, format and modify text to be printed out or viewed electronically. The Word Document format is an affordable word processing program. Word offers a number of features and tools, and a lot of users are familiar and comfortable with its Microsoft toolbars. Microsoft Word has tools to format fonts, add clipart, add page numbers, and create headers and tables.
